Who we are
Rivas Technology Group is a security and smart home integrator founded in Kent in 2020, serving south King County and Pierce County. We design and install intrusion systems, cameras, access control and intercoms, Control4 and Josh.ai smart homes, networks, and audio and video for homes and businesses, then support what we built. Owner: Ivan Rivas
Ivan Rivas is the Owner and Sales Engineer. He scopes, designs and sells every project, so the person who walks your property is the person who writes the proposal. Support runs through the support page and the CURATOR plans. He started the company because too many homeowners were living with systems nobody wanted to service and nobody could explain. The rule since then: design it right, support it ourselves, and let it disappear into the house.
Ivan has more than 15 years in the limited energy sector, the Washington trade that covers security, networking, audio, video and control wiring.
How the work is staffed
Our own team designs and installs in homes; on commercial projects we bring in licensed trade partners under our design and supervision. Nick Rhodes is our system integrator and project manager. He is the primary installer and programmer on residential projects. On commercial projects he is the project manager, and licensed trade partners work to his drawings and under his supervision. Every project has one designer, one crew and one number to call.

Memberships show up in the designs. At CEDIA Expo 2024 in Denver we compared routers, amplifiers and power products side by side and took classes in network design and lighting control. Two changes came home with us. A WattBox UPS now goes in every rack that carries security or automation, so a winter power blink never reboots the network. And Alta Labs, Ruckus and Ubiquiti UniFi became the three access point lines we install, chosen per building.

Where we work
South King County and Pierce County: Kent, Renton, Tukwila, Federal Way, Auburn, Covington and Maple Valley, Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner, Bonney Lake, Tehaleh, University Place and Gig Harbor. Olympic Peninsula by appointment. Walk-throughs are free within 20 miles of Kent.
How we work
Four steps, one team, one price.
- Walk-through. We meet at the property, look at what you have and what you want, and listen before we recommend anything.
- Design and proposal. One written scope with equipment, labor and one fixed price, within three to five business days. It does not change unless the scope does.
- Install. Our team, or licensed trade partners on commercial work under our supervision. Clean, labeled, documented.
- Handoff and support. A walkthrough until you can run it, a 90-day workmanship warranty on installations, and support or CURATOR after that.
Services are organized under Security, Residential and Commercial; builders and other integrators start at trade partners.
Pricing policy
Our labor rates, warranties, service area fees and payment terms are published on the pricing and policies page so you can read them before you call. Installations are quoted as one fixed price. Service calls bill at flat hourly rates with a stated minimum. Workmanship is warranted in writing, 90 days on installations and 30 days on service calls.

How fast do you respond?
Hours are Monday to Friday, 8 to 5. We do not offer after-hours emergency service; CURATOR clients get a four-hour response during business hours.
